About the Accreditation Process

The University of Maryland, College Park is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), under the authority of the U.S. Department of Education. The University's accreditation status is reviewed every ten years, and our accreditation was last reaffirmed in 2007. The Statement of Accreditation Status provides information about the University and MSCHE and is publicly available on the MSCHE website.

2017 Accreditation Information

The University is currently conducting a self study as part of the requirements for the 2017 accreditation review. Seven working groups are working to review the University based on the seven standards for accreditation that the MSCHE has implemented to review institutions. The Self-Study Design details the plan for the self-study, the intended outcomes, and the organizational structure of the steering committee and working groups.
