The Provost's Advisory Committee on Admissions and Advising (PACAA) was created on the recommendation of the College Park Senate to advise the Provost on academic issues affecting undergraduate admissions and advising, especially as they affect limited enrollment programs (LEP). Every three years, in consultation with the appropriate academic units, PACAA reviews the admissions criteria, advising policies and enrollments of the limited enrollment programs and reports their findings to the Provost and the College Park Senate. The committee also reviews new requests for LEP status and changes in LEP admissions criteria and makes recommendations on these matters to the Provost.
PACAA is appointed by the Provost in consultation with the deans. It has a majority of faculty members, and includes several academic administrators who are responsible for advising. All members serve three-year terms and may be reappointed. The Director of Admissions, the Vice President for Research and Planning, and the Director of the Division of Letters and Sciences are ex officio members of the committee.
